Patrick Mahomes Leaves TNF with a Knee Injury

Reigning NFL MVP, Patrick Mahomes, suffered a right knee injury during the second quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs 30-6 victory over the Denver Broncos Thursday night.  The injury occurred on a fourth-and-one QB sneak from inside the opponents five yard line. Mahomes, who was already dealing with an ankle injury from week five, stayed on the ground in pain after the play.

The team is awaiting an MRI to know the full extent of the injury but as of right now the diagnosis is a dislocated right knee.

The magnitude of this injury was palpable as members of both teams took time to shake Mahomes’ hand and tap his shoulder as he limped off the field with assistance from team trainers. The NFL is a quarterback driven league and seeing top signal callers like Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Newton miss time in the same season undoubtedly hurts the game.  Mahomes has risen to the level of an elite quarterback and might be the most exciting player to watch in the NFL today. It’s hard to say before the MRI, but hopefully he can get himself right before the team’s next game on Oct. 27th against the Green Bay Packers.
